Amesbury Housing Authority

  • Overview of Organization and Services:
The Amesbury Housing Authority provides Massachusetts and federal affordable housing programs for the elderly, disabled individuals, couples, and low-income families. Amesbury residents receive a preference in the selection process. All waiting lists are currently open.

The AHA owns and manages 263 units of affordable housing which is subsidized through a number of Massachusetts State housing programs. The inventory consists of 205 units of elderly/disabled housing, 50 units of multi-bedroom family housing and 8 units of housing for the chronically mentally ill. In most cases, residents pay no more than 30% of their monthly adjusted income for rent. We also administer Federal Housing programs: Including an 84-unit Housing Choice Voucher program and a 24-unit federally subsidized McKinney-Vento program for men in recovery from a history of drug and/or alcohol abuse.
  • Additional Info:
The Mission of the Amesbury Housing Authority is to maintain and increase available affordable housing opportunities while providing decent , safe and affordable housing for low-to-moderate income families, elders and other eligible disabled individuals from the Amesbury area. The programs and housing that are provided or are developed by the AHA will be managed in accordance with all applicable federal and state regulations and guidelines. Buildings and subsidized housing programs will be maintained in the best possible condition to assure the availability of decent, safe and sanitary housing and operated in the most efficient manner as possible. If categorical funding programs for the development of new affordable housing are not made available from State or Federal sources, the AHA will strive to form partnerships with other public, private and non-profit entities, using whatever resources and assets that are available to promote and expand affordable housing opportunities for all qualified Amesbury area residents
