Big Brothers Big Sisters of America - New Hampshire Chapter
Since 1966, Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire has been changing lives - one friendship at a time. Mentoring gives youth the inspiration and confidence needed to achieve their dreams, provides parents with a network of support, and offers volunteers the opportunity to make a big difference in someone else's life, just by having fun!

Every year, BBBSNH impacts youth through mentoring programs that serve children and youth in their communities, schools, and in the workplace. By building a strong, one-to-one and professionally-supported mentoring relationship to serve as a foundation for transformative impact and life skills learning, BBBSNH’s innovative approaches to expanding mentoring opportunities help to close both the achievement and opportunity gaps that exist for too many underserved children and youth. Our outcomes, collected through ongoing surveys of our Littles, illustrate the impact mentors have on the children we serve.

Our matches are strong and long-lasting, which we know provides the greatest opportunity for our Littles to achieve positive outcomes. The average match length in our community-based program is nearly 3 years, and in our site-based program our average-match length is more than year and half. The community-based program is our "traditional" mentoring program, where Bigs and Littles are matched in a one-to-one friendship based on gender, interests, personalities, and geographic locations. Volunteers are carefully screened and trained to create a positive impact by sharing their friendship, guidance, and support. Pairs meet at least twice per month for a couple hours to spend quality one-on-one time together, and form meaningful memories just by hanging out.

Mentors take the time to listen, encourage, and model positive behavior while doing everyday activities. Each match is professionally supported by a Match Support Specialist, who is there to support and advise Bigs and parents on this journey.
