Boys & Girls Club of Lower Merrimack Valley

DESCRIPTION

  • Overview of Organization and Services:
The Boys and Girls Club of Lower Merrimack Valley is dedicated space, designed solely for youth programs and activities. For over 20 years, the Club has been making a difference in the community offering programs and services that give young people a chance to play, have fun, laugh and learn, while instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.

We provide a safe place to learn and grow, ongoing relationships with caring adult professionals, life-enhancing programs and character development experiences and hope and opportunity.

    MISSION and PURPOSE
The Mission of the Boys and Girls Club of Lower Merrimack Valley is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those that need us the most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

The Purpose of the Boys & Girls Club is to promote academic success, good citizenship, and healthy life styles of boys and girls during critical periods of their growth.

    PROGRAMS and SERVICES
The Club offers programs in Five Core Program Areas: Arts, Health & Life Skills, Character & Leadership, Education & Career Development, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation.

In developing our programs and activities the club's underlying philosophy is the Youth Developing Strategy. This strategy enables us to maximize opportunities for young people to acquire four basic "senses" which help them build self-esteem and grow into responsible and caring citizens. These four "senses" are :

    A sense of competence
    A sense of usefulness
    A sense of belonging
A sense of power and influence
