Girls Inc of the Seacoast

DESCRIPTION

  • Overview of Organization and Services:
Girls Incorporated of the Seacoast area is an affiliate of Girls Incorporated® - one of the leading youth development organizations in the country. Our mission is to inspire all girls in the Seacoast area to be strong, smart and bold. We offer programs that empower girls to embrace their value and potential, equip girls with the tools for leadership roles and community action and prepare girls to lead successful, independent, fulfilling lives.

Girls Inc. of the Seacoast Area is a program of the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center whose mission is to help prevent domestic violence and care for its victims. With that in mind, we believe that when girls are empowered through our innovative programs they will be less likely to become victims of domestic violence. Girls Inc. provides effective prevention, building girls' confidence, strengths and assets. Currently we offer programs in Media Literacy, Economic Literacy and Action for Safety for middle school aged girls in the communities of Amesbury, Georgetown, Groveland, Ipswich, Merrimac, Newbury, Newburyport, Rowley, Salisbury and West Newbury.

Our programs are designed by the Girls Inc. national network which includes research-based curricula delivered by trained professionals to equip girls to achieve academically; lead healthy and physically active lives; manage money; navigate media messages; and discover an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. The national network of local Girls Inc. nonprofit organizations serves 150,000 girls ages 6-18 annually at over 1,400 sites in 350 cities across the United States and Canada.
