Horizon Club

DESCRIPTION

  • Overview of Organization and Services:
The Horizon Club is a social-activity group catering to the needs of those with social, mental or physical challenges. Members of Horizon Club are 18 years or older, and come from numerous communities in Essex County. Many attendees are residents of Turning Point or Shared Living, group homes in Amesbury. Some of those who attend are active at Opportunity Works in Newburyport.

Each week between 75 and 100 of the area’s disabled and socially isolated citizens “drop in to make new friends, keep in touch with pals, and participate in a variety of activities at the Elks Lodge on Low Street here,” according to organizers. Activities include dancing, talent shows, karaoke nights, crafts and group games.
