Northeast Legal Aid

DESCRIPTION

  • Overview of Organization and Services:
    Northeast Legal Aid is a legal aid program that provides free legal advice and representation in civil legal cases to low-income and elderly residents of Essex County and parts of Middlesex county. Since 1974 NLA has represented victims of domestic violence, prevented clients from becoming homeless through eviction defense or mortgage foreclosure, helped people obtain health, welfare, and other benefits, and those denied unemployment compensation.

    NLA handles a broad range of legal problems for low-income and elderly individuals.

    Applicants for service may apply online or call 978-458-1465. An intake worker will gather information about your address, income and legal problem. You will be given an appointment if NLS is able to assist you. NLS also offers outreach on a regular basis throughout our service area if you are unable to come to the office. If we cannot assist you we will try to provide you with a referral to someone who can.
