- Overview of Organization and Services:
The Newbury Council on Aging will identify, develop, implement, and advocate programs and services designed to enhance the quality of life and independence of elders in the community and will assist all people with questions relating to elder issues.
We are the first place to call for information on all matters related to aging. Our mission is to provide services and programs that address the needs of elders living in Newbury. We have been located in the Newbury Elementary School since 1997 and the hours are 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Thursday.
All staff works part-time, but someone is always available in the C.O.A. Office to speak with you. We are ready to work with you to find solutions for any problems and challenges you may be facing and we are alwasy receptive to suggestions for programs that can be held in our Senior Center.
The Newbury C.O.A. is a participant in the extensive Regional Network of service providers and organizations in the Merrimack Valley, including N.E.E.T. (the medical transportation program), Merrimack Valley Legal Services, the S.H.I.N.E. Program (health insurance counseling), TRIAD (with the Sheriff's and D.A. Offices) and other programs that provide home delivered meals, income tax preparation and fuel assistance.
We have close working relationships with other service providers in the area, such as, Visiting Nurse Association, the Crisis Interventions Unit and HOme Care Department of Elder Services, and the Housing Administrators. We have also developed service programs of our own, to meet the needs and desires of our elder residents.
